New England Kit: The Good, The Bad, and the Fugly

I must admit that I was thoroughly disappointed when the shirt was originally leaked. Much to my disappointment, the leaked kit was also the actual one that premiered at the Slovakia match. Imagine my dismay when the England lads removed their anthem jackets to reveal a low-tech, over-priced, glorified white polo. Not to mention, the white shorts with white embroidery are verging on the cusp of ludicrous. (And when I say they're verging on the cusp, I really mean they are staring in the face of preposterous and telling it bugger off.)

Some may call it a "slice of timeless cool." (This of course being the opinion of a man, most likely over the age of 40, who wouldn't know a single fashion designer if they hit him over the head with an over-sized bag while their tiny designer dog pissed on his shoe.) But others, like myself, (who indeed have some fashion sense and an idea of whats actually "cool" or not) think the design has little to be desired (and by design I mean "what design?"). This one has eclipsed classic and entered the realm of boring, bland and dull.

I promised my best friend I'd buy her an England kit if they made it to the World Cup. At this point, I wouldn't put her through that type of torture. Perhaps a St. George flag bikini and a box of face paint would suffice enough for her World Cup attire.

If you feel the need to have one, I have a suggestion. Rather than spending the ridiculously absurd price tag for an authentic one, go to buy a white polo and some fabric paint. (The rudimentary designs shouldn't be too difficult to duplicate.)

And lastly, you know what I think this kit needs more of... the colour white.

(P.S. This is my 800th post. Holla!)

I'm 22 actually. Just obviously have better taste than you.

Capello is smartening them up and it is the best England kit in about thirty years.

And "timeless cool" means that when you're cringing over photos and wondering what you ever saw in that oversized bag, the shirt will still look good. Like the '66 shirt does.
