The Blackburn player has been suspended from driving for six-months for a string of driving offences, including speeding and driving without a valid driver's license. He also commited crimes against car design and subtlety.
The former Bolton and Newcastle manager, agreed to a three-year contract today with Blackburn. Announcing officially on its website, the club's statement read:
"Blackburn Rovers are delighted to announce the appointment of Sam Allardyce as manager with immediate effect."
Blackburn will present their new boss at a press conference tomorrow (16:00 GMT) and the first match to be overseen by Allardyce will take place on Saturday (15:00 GMT) against Stoke City.
Daniel Agger turns 24 today. Seeing that this might be his last birthday in Liverpool, I hope he makes the best of it. With Real Madrid and AC Milan both interested in the central defender, Agger is feeling more unsure of his future at Liverpool. Especially if he continues to spend more time on the bench than on the pitch. Maybe Madrid or Milan would suit better your rugged looks and propulsion for tattoos.
Steven Warnock, of the Blackburn Rovers, celebrates his birthday today as well. The former Liverpool academy grad turns 26 today.
There seems to be a serious problem for Liverpool players. Jermaine Pennant became the ninth Liverpool player in the past two years to be robbed. Some numnuts bashed their Landrover through his gate and bashed into his mansion in an attempt to break in. (I will take this time to insert a little physics lesson for future robbers: In the battle between the thin metal of a Landrover frame and a 2 foot think stone wall, who will escape unscathed? That’s right, the big thick wall.) Pennant apparently chased the robbers away by appearing in his jammies, waving a flashlight. The incinerated Landrover was found later around a pole containing bolt cutters in the back seat.
While Roque Santa Cruz was with Blackburn playing away at Portsmouth, his wife, Giselle, was held at knifepoint and told to offload a large amount of expensive jewellery. It’s been reported that their children, Tobias (4) and Fiorella (3) witnessed the attack. No one was injured, but Giselle and the children are seriously shaken.
After signing a four-year deal back in August, the Blackburn striker seemed to quell rumors of moving to a larger club after a successful season with the Rovers. But alas, this is the Premier League, and really anyone is open game for transfers, especially when Manchester City is involved. Roque told radio station Primero de Marzo:
“Manchester City is a team that has a very important financial support that is getting prepared for winning the title. I am very happy at Blackburn but I like the idea of playing for a team that will be fighting for important objectives. I will keep on doing what I do at Blackburn but if the coach of Manchester City is interested in me I would like to join Robinho in that team. He is a wonderful player and I would like to play next to him."
Well that’s a bit of contradiction to your actions there buddy.
This Socceroo hottie (with Italian decent, not dissent) has joined the Blackburn Rovers on a 5-year contract for an undisclosed fee. Grella, 28, formerly played for Torino, Parma, and Empoli of Serie A. The defensive midfielder is the fifth signing for Ince and will be joining his Australia teammate Brett Emerton at Ewood Park.
For the ladies who are enjoying this new addition to the Premier League, Grella is currently married and has twin daughters, Victoria and Sophia. And according to Wikipedia, Vince met his wife, Barbara, when she worked in a shoe store in Italy. Apparently he enjoyed their first meeting so much that he returned multiple times to do some shoe shopping... oh vomit.
